Maria Szasz


Dr. Maria Szasz teaches theatre history in the University of New Mexico’s Honors Program. Her classes include World Drama, American Drama, Theatrical Comedy, and Musical Theatre. In 2008, she won the University of New Mexico’s Thomas L. Popejoy Dissertation Prize for her work on Brian Friel. She is the compiler of Theatre and Drama in the American West: A Bibliography (Center for the American West, University of New Mexico, 1998). She has written papers on the early twentieth-century Irish-American musical theatre phenomenon George M. Cohan, the musical Finian’s Rainbow and several of Brian Friel’s plays.She is the author of Brian Friel & America published by Glasnevin Publishing
