Dr. Mary P Murphy

Dr. Mary Murphy is lecturer in Irish politics and society at the National University of Ireland Maynooth. She has a background in working with social justice campaigning groups including being assistant general secretary of the National Organisation of the Unemployed and National social policy office of the society of the St. Vincent de Paul.She has represented anti-poverty interests in several national policy institutions and processes. From 2003-2008 she was a Councillor in Dublin City Council where she chaired the housing community and social affairs committee. She holds a B.A. in Economics and Sociology from Trinity College Dublin and a Ph.D. from Dublin City University. Her research is primarily in the field of political sociology.
